Dr. Mike was raised in Bakersfield, California. After receiving a degree from U.C. Santa Cruz he spent 18 years with the Forest Service, mostly in the Sierra Nevada's.

He returned to school at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and U.C. Davis graduating with a Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1995. 

He has been at Bailey’s since then and enjoys the variety and challenge of mixed animal practice in Douglas County and the many wonderful clients in “the Bailey family”.

Mike and his wife Judy have two grown daughters; Kim in Portland, and Pam, husband Craig and Jack, Kira and Michael (the world's most perfect grandchildren) in Colorado.
